Every other day during the fertile window — not daily. Daily reduces sperm count. Start 2 days before predicted ovulation for best coverage.

Temperature rises 0.2–0.5°C after ovulation. Take first thing each morning before getting up. A sustained rise confirms ovulation.

Hormonal BC (pill, patch, ring)
Suppresses natural hormonal cycling. The 4-phase model is flattened. Mood shifts can still occur but are less predictable.

SSRIs / antidepressants
Serotonin naturally dips in the luteal phase. SSRIs can reduce PMS symptoms significantly — even taken only in the two weeks before her period.

Thyroid medication
Hypothyroidism causes heavier, more irregular periods. Adequate dosing typically normalizes the cycle within a few months.

NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen)
Most effective when started 1–2 days before the period begins. They reduce prostaglandins — the cause of cramps — not just mask pain.
